Note brownish-gray upperparts, with black spots; pale gray underparts, with pink hue. Outer tail feathers are blackish-gray with white tips. In flight, tail narrows to a point, and wings are falcon-like, with pointed tips. When flushed, note the distinctive whistling sound that its wings make.

Nests in trees. Nest is a flimsy platform of sticks or twigs. Seeds comprise the majority of the diet.
