Description: We’ll descend into lovely riparian Curry Canyon before climbing steeply to a section just below Windy Point. From there we’ll return to the trailhead via Knobcone Point Rd., passing by the landmark of Balancing Rock. This hike features outstanding views of the Diablo summit, North Peak, Riggs Canyon and Highland Ridge. Wildflowers should be abundant. Allow 7 hours for this 8.5 mile hike with a total elevation gain of about 1500 feet. Bring layered clothing and plenty of water. Steady relaxed pace with a 30-minute lunch and other rest breaks. Be prepared for mud and poison oak. Rain cancels.
